Death & final expense
So a funeral never becomes your family's first financial crisis.
#1 Best Selling Author · Mike Lee
A plain-English guide to understanding life insurance in under an hour, the five reasons families actually need it, and the one most agents never mention.

The stakes
“If something happened to you tomorrow, would your family know exactly what to do? Not emotionally. Financially.— from the introduction
The framework
Everything in the book sorts into one of these five letters. Read all five before deciding which one matters most for your life right now.
So a funeral never becomes your family's first financial crisis.
So the mortgage and the bills don't notice one paycheck is gone.
So the house stays home, no matter what year it happens in.
A head start for your kids, with none of a 529's restrictions.
Growth with a floor, so a bad market year never erases a decade.
The numbers
of Americans would face real financial hardship within one month of losing a primary wage earner. Not a year. One month.
the national median cost of a funeral with viewing and burial, and that's before a headstone or travel costs.
working Americans have life insurance only through their job, coverage they don't actually own, and can lose the same day they leave.
started at birth, can grow into a six-figure, tax-free foundation for a child using the same tool this book explains.
Myths, busted
Myth
“The life insurance I get through work has me covered.”
Reality
It typically caps at one to two times your salary, and it disappears the day you leave the job, whether you quit, get laid off, or retire.
Myth
“My PMI protects my family if something happens to me.”
Reality
PMI, the insurance you're required to carry if you put less than 20% down on a home, protects the bank, not you. It exists purely to cover the lender if you default on the loan. It has never once paid a homeowner's family a dollar.
Myth
“If I've been declined once, I can't get covered anywhere.”
Reality
One company's decline is often another company's standard rate. The book walks through exactly why.
Myth
“A policy for my kid is basically the same as a 529 plan.”
Reality
A 529 locks the money to education only. A policy built the way this book describes comes with no such restriction, usable for a home down payment, a business, or whatever your child actually needs as an adult.
Myth
“I got my policy a long time ago, so I already have the best price possible.”
Reality
Life insurance pricing evolves like everything else. If your health has improved, or you bought your policy before multi-tier underwriting existed, there's a real chance you qualify for more coverage at a better rate today than what you're currently paying. The only way to know is a policy review.
Myth
“If I need final expense or burial insurance, I'm stuck with one generic price.”
Reality
If you're in decent health, you may qualify for a policy priced to your actual age and health, not a flat number built for the highest-risk person in the pool.
The book covers a dozen more of these, chapter by chapter.
What almost nobody talks about
There's a category of life insurance company that's not-for-profit, some have existed in America for over a hundred years, and instead of paying out to shareholders, members get benefits most people never hear about. Grants for community projects. A will and a living trust, drafted for free. And if both parents in a family pass away, a monthly benefit paid directly to whoever raises their kids, on top of scholarship money most families never even know exists.
This is one full chapter of the book, explained in plain English. Most financial professionals have never mentioned it to you either.
